First: any number ending in 5, squared. 65 squared: 6 times 7 equals 42, append 25, answer 4225. 35 squared: 3 times 4 equals 12, append 25, answer 1225. Try three numbers. Done in 4 minutes.
Second: any 2-digit number multiplied by 11. Write the first digit, add both digits for the middle, write the last digit. 73 times 11: write 7, 7+3 is 10, write 0 and carry 1 to the 7 to get 8, write 3. Answer: 803. Try four numbers. Done in 5 minutes.
That's the session. Two techniques, first-try wins on both, finished before the school run. Do it again tomorrow. That's how math confidence is built — one small, correct, fast answer at a time.
