Shesanyankena Charamena

The remainders by the last digit (she · san · yan · ke · na cha · ra · me · na)

What it means

Find the decimal form of fractions like 1/7 or 1/19 without dividing — the repeating pattern writes itself out, one digit at a time, using each remainder as the next key.

Worked example

Find 1/7. Start with remainder 1. Multiply by 10 and divide by 7: digit 1, new remainder 3. Multiply by 10 again: digit 4, remainder 2. Continue: 1, 4, 2, 8, 5, 7 — then the remainder 1 returns, so the cycle repeats. 1/7 = 0.142857… forever.
